  • Surface Illuminations

Surface Illuminations is a series in progress that uses light as a metaphor for connection, collaboration and communication. Light emanates from the photograph, in this case quite literally, and is directed across the surface of the image. As it travels across the image, it is altered - it picks up information from the surface of the photograph. The light then spills over the frame onto the accompanying surface. That surface is changed by receiving light from the other. I am interested in this idea of sharing. Small parts of those I interact with subtly change me in ways that I often don't understand and can seldom control. Conversely actions undertaken by myself alter those around me. In these works, light acts as an indicator of those interactions.
